Bob Writes To: Fred Couples

Dear Fred,

I understand that you missed the Open due to flair up of your back difficulties.

Recently I studied a stop action sequence poster of your swing. The photos reveal that your left leg is locked and your left foot is flat on the ground at impact. If your technique were proper, your left knee would be flexed and your weight transfer would cause your left foot to roll over to the left edge of your shoe.

Your rigidness at impact, coupled (pun!) with your great power, reeks havoc on your lower back. To overcome this, stand closer to the ball, lower your hands, flex your knees and carry more of your weight back on your heels at address.

When you make these changes you will be just as powerful, more accurate and you will stop stressing your back.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
