Question from Mark: Shaft Durability

What is the durability of a standard golfclub, namely the shaft. Is there a difference in graphite or (rifle-) steel. When can you expect a club to clearly perform less?

Dear Mark: A steel shaft will last forever unless broken. I am uncertain if graphite may eventully fatigue but I doubt it.
