Question from Dan: Taking Divots

Dear Bob:

How do you correct taking large (DEEP) divots? What causes this problem?

Dear Dan:

This is an excellent question because many golfers incorrectly think that their objective is to take large deep divots. A perfectly excuted shot is struck with the club-head moving in a football shaped eliptical pattern through the impact zone. For this to occurr the lower body must move freely to the left on the down swing.

Flex your knees. Point your chin to the right before initiating the back swing and keep it there until after impact. This will give you the result your seeking.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
