Question from Bob: Putting Help

Dear Bob:

My putting game has gone south. It's to the point where I don't even feel comfortable with my putting grip. When putting, do you recommend a firm grip or a light "full swing" type grip? I'm desperate, 3 putts are killing me!"

Dear Bob:

We "Southerners" resent you "Yankee's" when you say that something has "gone south", indicating a negative result. We like to say that it has "gone north".

Definitely use a light grip when putting. Your question refers to a light grip for full swing. Good work. A light grip is appropriate, as the hands will firm up automatically at impact on full shots. See the Putting Newsletter for further help.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
