Question from Richard: Swing Plane

Dear Richard:

Swing plane is a function of the distance you stand from the ball, your mental image and posture. Standing closer to the ball and having erect posture will encourage a more upright swing plane. The reason that I say encourage rather than assure is, if you have a faulty mental picture and are trying to swing the club in a circle around your body, the swing plane will be inappropriately flat in spite of a good staring position. See my answer to the question entitled Path for more guidance.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
