Question from William: Left/Right Handed
Dear William:
Many left-handed people have great success
playing right handed. Ben Hogan is an example. Because the game is
a left sided activity for a right handed player, a left handed person
theoretically has a head start by switching to right-handed golfing.
However, you should be certain that the difference is not equipment
related. If you can get your hands on a left-handed and right-handed
club, that are otherwise identical, you can make a valid comparison.
One of my early teachers was Curdy Byrd. Curdy could hit the ball
equally well left-handed or right-handed. This I guess proves that
the option exists for most players to bat from either side of the
plate. Send me your now discarded left-handed clubs as a gift and
I will test the theory. Be sure and prepay the freight and include
a self addressed prepaid envelope in case I want to return them.
