Question from Charlie: Hilly Lies

Dear Charlie:

When the ball is below your feet, stand closer to the ball and grip the club at full length. Concentrate on keeping your weight back on your heels. Aim to the left of the target as the ball will tend to fly to the right.

When the ball is higher than your feet, you should choke the club down and stand closer to the ball. Aim to the right as the ball will tend to fly to the left.

When you have an uphill lie, select a longer club to keep the ball down and add distance. Play the ball back in your stance.

When you have a downhill lie, select a more lofted club and play the ball forward in your stance.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
