Question from Bradley: Golf Grip
Dear Bob:
In recent years
there has been a transition to a stronger grip with the left hand.
A few years ago the pros wanted to fade the ball. Now most of them
want to draw the ball. My Specialty Shots video demonstrates the
adjustments that can be made to change the flight pattern of your
shots.
A strong grip
with the right hand is not advised. You may ask "if the left
hand grip becomes stronger shouldn't the right hand grip become stronger?" This
would be so if the objective was to keep the hands parallel. However,
that is not the objective.
Stand up facing
the mirror. Allow your hands to drape naturally by your thighs. Notice
that the thumbs both point inward. The bottom line is, that in their
natural state. The palms are not parallel to each other.
The natural relationship
of the hands should be maintained when gripping the club. The right
hand, like the left hand, is on top of the grip. The left thumb is
on the right side of the grip. The right thumb is on the left side
of the grip. All of this is consistent with my Automatic Golf method.
Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
