Question from Patrick: Club Shaft Flex

Dear Patrick:

The most desirable playing characteristic in a shaft is minimal torque combined with reasonable flexibility. Prior to the recent technological advancements, it was difficult to provide sufficient flex while minimizing torque. Today our graphite shafts are flexible yet have limited torque. That is why I play them and that is why we have removed steel shafts from our product line.

In the final analysis the only relevant answer is how the clubs perform for you. However, as a general principle, maximizing flex (within reason) and minimizing torque is the objective.

Golfingly Yours,
Bob Mann
